Product sustainability
All our leather products are handmade in our workshop in Vienna using the finest quality, vegetable-tanned vachetta leather. Our leather comes from a family-run tannery in Tuscany, Italy and is certified by the "Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium (Pelle al Vegetale)". The leather is tanned using only natural raw materials in a traditional and eco-friendly process. No chrome is used in the tanning process.
In our commitment to sustainability, we actively work to minimise overproduction. As a result, certain products may temporarily appear as out of stock. Thank you for joining us in creating a more sustainable future.
We use solely acid-free, FSC and PEFC-certified paper made in traditional paper mills in Europe. All our notebooks are printed in Vienna with eco-friendly, vegetable-based inks.

crafted from stories, shaped by landscape
Dúchas was born from places that linger long after you leave them. Fern green and wild heather draw from Ireland’s moss-covered cliffs, windswept moors, and shifting coastal light, captured in two leather colours stone-polished by hand, designed to carry your stories wherever they lead.
landscapes that stay with you
Fern green carries the depth of ancient forests, damp stone walls, and ferns growing wild after rain. Wild heather reflects soft violet moors beneath restless skies. Together, they capture the atmosphere of Ireland in colours that feel lived in, weathered, and deeply personal.
crafted by hand to travel through life
The leather is stone-polished and hand-finished in a small Italian village using traditional techniques that give it a soft, naturally lived-in character. Back in our Vienna workshop, each piece is carefully cut, crafted, and assembled by hand by our artisans to become a companion made to last for years to come.
for stories worth telling
Morning pages in a quiet kitchen. Notes taken on a train crossing the countryside. Sketches, plans, fragments of conversations, pressed flowers, old tickets. The Dúchas edition was created for the rituals that shape a life and the stories that deserve to be carried forward.
frequently asked questions
what makes this edition special?
The Dúchas edition draws inspiration from the landscapes and storytelling traditions of Ireland. Fern green and wild heather reflect windswept moors, rugged cliffs, and shifting coastal light, captured in stone-polished leather hand-finished in Italy and carefully crafted by hand in our Vienna workshop. Designed to carry your stories, journeys, and everyday rituals.
what’s the difference between this leather and your regular leather?
The leather is the same high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather we use in all our products, but with a special stone-polished finish. This gives it a smoother feel while still allowing it to develop a beautiful patina over time.

what is le loop | penholder?

Equipped with super strong magnets, it will keep your most treasured pen firmly in place and always close at hand while being easy to detach when you want.
how is it sustainable?
We have developed an efficient system to minimise or even avoid leather waste altogether. We punch the individual leather hides in the most resource-saving way possible, using up as much leather as we can. We use larger, imperfect leather scraps for prototypes of upcoming products, and produce charms and bookmarks out of smaller leftover leather pieces, as gifts for our customers.
what is vegetable tanned leather?
Tannins are used to tan the leather. They are vegetable extracts, powders extracted from plants such as Quebracho, Mimosa and chestnut trees. No chrome is used in the tanning process. Once the leather is tanned, it can be used as is or dyed. It is coloured using aniline dyes, which are soluble in water and colour leather without covering the natural grain of its surface.
