Birds of feather flock together.

We love all things paper and craftsmanship and seek out like minded people. A few weeks ago Jerome and I had an honour of visiting Mr Wolfgang Schön. Wolfgang is the last printer in Vienna who prints on copper plate.

The company was founded in 1922 by Wolfgang's father and it was the place to have your visiting cards and stationery printed for the creme de la creme of Vienna and Europe. We flipped through the archive books and found the business cards of Herbert von Karajan, The Duke of Parma, Count Tolstoy and the birth announcement of Rome Schneider printed for her parents. The real stars of the archives though were not the names of famous customers but the actual work itself. The business cards and the prints were like small pieces of art.

Wolfgang kindly showed us the actual process of printing on copper plate. The printing is done piece by piece with hand engraved copperplate. The craftsmanship and the beauty of the end result was incredible.
