Vienna and Tokyo, bound in craft

For the first time, paper republic is bringing its full experience to Asia through a special collaboration with Itoya Ginza, one of the world’s most recognised destinations for stationery and craftsmanship.

We are especially happy to celebrate this moment at Itoya Ginza, a place long loved by people who share our appreciation for paper, writing and thoughtful design. For the pop-up, our team will be there in person with new products, special activities and plenty of ways to make the experience your own.

Discover the full paper republic experience and create a journal that feels truly yours. Choose your format, leather colour and favourite paper refills, then personalise it with ribbons, embossing or event-exclusive charms.

You can also get closer to the craft behind paper republic through hands-on workshops and l’atelier appointments. During a private l’atelier session, you can design your dream leather journal with our team and discuss a bespoke leather charm, handcrafted in our Vienna workshop.

explore paper republic

Paper republic is a Vienna-based stationery brand creating refillable leather journals designed to stay with you for years, together with paper refills and accessories made to fit inside.

Elastic ribbons inside each leather cover keep your notebooks and other refills securely in place. You can add, remove or rearrange them in seconds, so your journal can easily adapt to how you want to use it.

Take it with you for everyday writing, planning or travel, replacing only the paper once it is full.

Designed and handcrafted in Vienna, every leather piece develops its own character over time, becoming more personal over time.

leather made to change with you

The leather cover is the lasting part of every paper republic journal.

Our full-grain vachetta leather comes from a small, family-run tannery in Tuscany. The hides are vegetable-tanned without chrome using natural tannins, then coloured with aniline dyes that allow the natural grain and markings to remain visible.

Small variations in tone, texture and surface markings are natural characteristics of the leather, rather than faults.

With use, the leather softens, deepens in colour and develops a patina shaped by how it is handled and carried. No two journals begin exactly alike, and no two will age in the same way.

Our leather is certified by the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium, and all dyes comply with the European REACH regulation.

handcrafted in Vienna

Every paper republic leather product is prepared in our Vienna workshop.

The leather is inspected and cut before the components are prepared, stitched, assembled and finished by our trained leather craftspeople. Ribbons, embossing, refills and accessories are then added according to each order.

Before leaving the workshop, every piece is checked and carefully packed by our production and stock teams.
